Context

Build a shop where a large selection of books never turns into a hard search. Shoppers need to find their way around categories quickly, compare offers and get to checkout, with service pages supporting that path.

The challenge

Combine the feel of a bookshop with a practical retail structure. The homepage introduces the range, while the catalogue, product page and basket give enough information for the next step.

What we did

  1. The catalogue as the backbone

We designed the categories, navigation and search. One route links the homepage to the catalogue and the book page, so the shop window never drifts away from the purchase.

  2. Reusable templates

Home, catalogue and product pages share a consistent interface. A book, its description and its actions keep a clear hierarchy from section to section.

  3. Ordering and service flows

The scope covered the basket, checkout, customer account, service pages and special book requests — complementing the usual path through the catalogue.

  4. Typography with two jobs

Editorial typefaces give the shop its bookish character, while neutral text handles navigation and product information. The current hero uses its own expressive composition.

What we built

  1. Shop architecture

We organised books in many languages and goods from Europe into a clear catalogue, and defined categories, navigation, search and entry points for finding a book, offers and special orders.

  2. Design and build

We designed the UX/UI and the visual system, the homepage, the catalogue and the product templates, and built responsive pages that connect how the range is shown to what the shopper does next.

  3. Retail and service flows

We linked search, product page, basket and checkout, and added the customer account, service pages, book-finding requests and contact points.

  4. Setup, testing and launch

We configured the shop, tested the full purchase path and the responsive pages, and launched. The result is a working e-commerce project, not a set of mock-ups.

Visual system

The shop pairs its main teal with a yellow accent on white surfaces. The catalogue system and the refreshed first screen are worth telling apart: the live site uses different type families for each.

Journeys and material

Home and curated picks → category or search → book page → basket → checkout. Unusual requests have their own service path, and the customer account links shoppers to their orders.

Promotion

We optimised the site for search, set up Yandex Direct and Google Ads accounts, and launched advertising and search promotion.

The result

BOOKVA now has a launched, turnkey online shop. Catalogue, search, product pages, basket and checkout work as one path from browsing to ordering. The customer account and service pages round out the purchase; architecture, design, development, setup and launch were all part of one project.
